But the ldf file has not shrunk at all. What do I need to do ? Thanks WebJul 25, 2016 · You can shrink the log file if there is free space available in the log file , if it is in simple recovery model there should be free space and if it is in full recovery model either change it to simple recovery if you don't want to have full recovery in SQL2 server or take a log backup and then shrink file Why you want to create new LDF file ?
