The 38 special one should use either rebated bullets or soft lead hollow point SWC (to expand and fit the barrel) or accuracy won't be too good. The 38 short Colt cylinder does not have that problem. Neither does the 45LC cylinder for the New Model Army 44. WebHowell Arms Corp did a great job fitting a Howell 45LC cylinder to my Pietta 1860 Army 44. Chris the gunsmith performed the fitting on the parts so that the timing and lock-up are perfect. He also installed a full-size Army grip assembly to replace the smaller Navy-size grip that came with the gun.
